Doumbek & Frame Drum Classes

This ongoing class covers doumbek and frame drum techniques, rhythms, musicality, and the improvisational ensemble methods of New World Rhythmatism (NWR). Open to all skill levels.

Learn to:

• Make your instrument sound great
• Play popular bellydance rhythms
• Share your musical ideas on the fly
• Enjoy how easy and fun music making can be

What Is NWR?

• A simple set of verbal calls, gestures, and frameworks
• A method for easily creating group rhythm and dance improvisations
• A system that empowers each person to act as both leader and follower

Tuition: Your first drop-in class is free: $10 thereafter – with a $5 discount when you bring a friend. After your first class, you can enroll in the next scheduled six-session NWR Intensive; $50 in advance.

Equipment: Loaner drums may be available by advanced request. NWR Intensive students will need their own instrument and access to a metronome, drum machine, or drum sequencing software.
